A CBCT scan shows all your bones, nerves, and soft tissues in high detail, this allows us to diagnose your health and plan our treatment approach before we even begin a procedure.
EXPLANATION
CBCT stands for cone beam computed tomography. This 3-D scan captures detailed images of your teeth, jaw, neck, ears, nose and throat from a variety of angles in less than a minute.
Like the panoramic X-ray, it is an extraoral X-ray and the imagining machine will rotate entirely around your head.
A CBCT scan provides very detailed images used for implant planning and other diagnostic purposes.
The dentist or radiologist will analyze the images taken and will either discuss the results with you directly or communicate to the referring dentist.
BENEFITS
It is a quick and comfortable experience, while providing comprehensive information and accurate measurements for successful dental implant surgery.
CBCT scans use significantly less radiation than traditional CT scans and are considered to be safe.
A single scan provides 150-200 images with a wide variety of views and angles that provide a complete evaluation of teeth, bone and soft tissue.
ALTERNATIVE
An intraoral scanner is a handheld device that is used to directly create a digital impression of the mouth. Digital scanning is much faster, more precise and accurate than traditional alginate impressions. It also reduces patient discomfort as they don’t have to endure the unpleasant trays and material. This scanner will take impressions for crowns, mouthguards and to make custom trays for teeth whitening.
